Wetback fires
Every one wants to save on their power bill and water heating is very expensive. A wetback heats your water and house with the heat of a fire place. This is a great way to save money but is it worth the investment?
Having the fire going instead of the fire and the hot water cylinder going means one less thing to pay for. The water flows through a hollow plate at the back of a fireplace heating the water to boiling level. The water is circulated throughout the house with a network of copper (better than other metals at maintaining heat) pipes. The water then goes back into the hot water cylinder and doesn't require heating by electricity. One problem with having a wetback is that the fire isn't as hot. That is counteracted with the fact that the whole house is heated instead of one room.
I my opinion a wetback is a great investment for a family home and is very good in the winter. Having the whole house heated means less mold and a healthier environment. I would recommend inquiring at your local hardware or wood burner outlet for a quote.
